We take pride in producing healthy, happy puppies for you to enjoy and love. Our adults are health tested and OFA certified to help ensure a sound puppy. We breed our Labs for healthy pups that have good conformation and temperament to improve and continue our lines with. Many of our puppies have become great service, therapy, hunting and show dogs and others are wonderful couch potatoes by choice! They are very smart and trainable, they have a great start here being socialized constantly in our home, until they need more space and then it continues outside. Each puppy also participates in the "Super Dog" program which is a neurological stimulation they do not get naturally that benefits them both mentally and physically. Our Labs are from well known champion lines, and we currently show and/or hunt them as well. Puppies go to their new homes already spoiled, micro-chipped, Limited AKC Registration, started on a heartworm preventative, puppy folder and lots of helpful info, they are up to date on vaccines and dewormed multiple times. You are welcome to come meet us and our Labs, they love the attention too! If you would like a puppy from a specific litter, we encourage you to get on a waiting list because they are usually spoken for long before they are ready to go home. Some Helpful Information
Labrador Retrievers were originally bred in Newfoundland, and were used by fisherman to jump into icy waters and pull up nets. Labradors turned up in England in the 1800’s and this is where the retrieving instincts of the breed were sharpened. Today, in addition to being great hunters and the most popular family dog, Labradors are also used as service dogs for the disabled, bomb and drug detectors for law enforcement organizations, rescue operations and for therapy dogs. Labradors are good-natured, people-oriented dogs. They love to be included in family life and are great with kids and other pets.
Genetics account for about 35% of their performance, but the remaining 65% (management, training, nutrition) can make the difference. As a puppy grows and develops, there are three kinds of stimulation that will greatly impact and influence how it will develop and be shaped as an individual. The first stage is early neurological stimulation and the second is socialization, which take place within the first three days of life because there is a short window for these results. All our puppies go through the "bio-sensor" or "super dog" program during days 3 to 16, which is the first stage and they are handled, socialized, and getting acquired to everyday household activities from day one. Socialization is the second, is most important, or makes the most difference, during the first 16 weeks of age. The final stage in the process of growth and development is called enrichment, which continues for as long as you introduce new experiences to your pet. Be assured, all our puppies will have the best possible start in life!
Labs like to chew, but can be easily trained not to. Keep toys around to replace whatever your puppy might start chewing on that he’s not supposed to, and start right away!! Don’t think it’s cute when he picks up your shoe to play with it, tell him NO and replace it with HIS toy instead! Understand Labradors don't really reach adulthood until between two and three years old.
It is very important to keep your Labradors weight under control. Overweight dogs will have more health problems, including heart trouble, joint problems, and arthritis. They will over eat, so be sure to control when and what they eat.
Keep your dogs ears clean, especially if they are swimming often. As long as you keep them clean and dry, ear infections should not be an issue.
Brush them regularly to help control shedding, a de-shedding tool is very helpful. Bathe when needed, they don’t require special grooming and can be washed at home. Too much bathing can cause dry, itchy or flaky skin if you are not using the correct products. Labs "blow their coat" twice a year, the rest of the time is just the normal amount of shedding - which is still a lot, LOL!
Please make sure to trim your dog's nails regularly to prevent foot and posture problems. If you hear nails on the floor, they are too long!! If you start cutting your puppy’s nails weekly then nail cutting will be accepted as routine as an adult, even if it is just a paw or 2 a week. If you let their nails grow too long, the quick will also grow longer. Trimming their nails often can make the quick slowly retract back. A Dremel is my first choice, it avoids accidental cuts and allows you to get shorter nails with no sharp edges. Most dogs do not like the feel of getting their nails trimmed, so PROPER introduction to this activity is important for continued success. Play and handle your pups feet all the time, as well as checking his ears and teeth regularly just to get him used to the feel. This will make future care much easier!!!
Crate training is absolutely the best way to train a puppy, when he doesn't have your full attention - put him in his crate. It keeps them safe (along with your belongings), it becomes their “safe place” and they also don’t want to potty where they sleep or eat! Plan on spending time each day playing with and exercising your dog. Labs are enthusiastic puppies and do much better with proper exercise and attention. Play fetch in the yard or take your puppy on short walks, it teaches them to walk on a leash, to stay close to you, and trust you. The more exercise you offer your pup, the easier it will be to train him and they will be less destructive! The more you teach your puppy, the more your puppy will bond, admire you and want to learn.
Remember that Labrador Retrievers love to please, but it does take time and effort to train them - just like any other dog. Begin training your Lab immediately! Simple things like sitting to be pet instead of jumping up or not bolting through the doorway when opened avoids bad behavior as they grow up. House breaking your puppy is another training that you will do, and will require a lot of consistency and patience on your part for the best results. As long as you are consistent, none of this is difficult. Early basic training will help bonding and make things more enjoyable for the life of your pup. Labradors are very intelligent and love to please, so as long as you are willing to teach, they are willing to learn!! A basic obedience or socialization class is an excellent idea, and should be done as early as possible for best results. Your puppy will become your biggest admirer and deserves the chance to be a well behaved dog and loved in return!

Feeding your Labrador Puppy
We feed Purina Pro Plan Sport 30/20. The correct balances of essential ingredients is important for proper health and growth. Feed him three times a day in the beginning... morning, mid-day and early evening so he can go outside a couple of times before bedtime. Let the puppy have access to the food for about 15 minutes then take away what he hasn't eaten (the start of scheduled feedings). Labs have a tendency to over eat, so pay attention to their changing needs whether it be more or less food as needed.
Hip and elbow problems may stem from puppies being fed too much or being fed something with the wrong calcium/phosphorous ratio and, of course, a big influence is the wrong exercise. An overweight dog is a result of poor feeding and causes more stress on hips and elbows, improper joint growth, cardiovascular health and the list goes on, which in turn shortens the life of the dog and can also cause a lot of veterinarian expenses later in life. Some healthy snacks are ok in moderation, try giving them a carrot or other veggies, it's a great treat! Ask your veterinarian for feeding recommendations.
TOXIC: Onions, chocolate, cocoa, macadamia nuts, avocados, raisins, and grapes can be fatal to dogs. As few as 7 grapes or raisins can be toxic to some dogs. Xylitol found in chewing gum, and some peanut butter, is very toxic to dogs. Many house and outdoor ornamental plants are also toxic or fatal to dogs and children as well as fertilizers and pesticides.

Get your pet healthy – Keep your pet healthy! We love animals and we know you love them too! Unfortunately, the majority of dogs and cats are not receiving a complete, healthy diet and many become ill and die prematurely. NuVet Labs™ main purpose is to help increase your pet's longevity and quality of life. Our products, NuVet Plus™ for Canines and NuVet Plus™ for Felines, provide the very best human-grade, natural ingredients available and utilize the latest advances in medical, veterinary and nutritional science. We pledge to adhere to the highest standards in products and services. Our goal is to maintain a lasting and caring relationship with our family of NuVet Plus™ customers and their pets they love. Our scientists, veterinarians and formulators began with the premise that most pet diets are lacking the proper amounts of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. There are important nutrients that animals once received when they were living in a more primitive environment that are not available in the modern diet. Commercial pet foods contain numerous by-products that can make them poisonous, toxic and incapable of reducing the devastating effects of unstable oxygen molecules, also known as "free radicals." Free radicals have been implicated in more than fifty health problems in humans and animals including various forms of cancer, heart disease, arthritis, cataracts and premature aging. After extensive testing with many different combinations of ingredients, our scientists formulated NuVet Plus™. We believe, based on the most current medical, veterinarian and nutritional reports, NuVet Plus™ will combat the onslaught of free radicals in our companion pets. This unique formula consists of precise amounts of vitamins, minerals and high-potency antioxidants that when combined, create a synergistic and powerful boost to the immune system.
